We LOVE this place. We have changed the way we travel to visit my family in Mississippi just so we can eat at Smitty’s. Sliced and chopped brisket amazing! Ribs are falling off the bones. Sides are fabulous!!
I am extremely picky when it comes to Texas BBQ, and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint me. The Briscket was cooked to perfection! Perfect bark and tender when you bight it. So soft that i was cutting it with a spoon. The sausage was smoked to perfection, not too hard on the outside and juicy in the inside. Will definitely come back again.
Man I’ve been driving past this place for years and never knew what I was missing! Just stopped for the second time and it’s TX BBQ. Quick friendly service and great food! Don’t forget to grab some jarred jams and a glass DP while you’re in there!
I’m quite fond of BBQ so I was excited to try Smitty’s. There is something on their menu for most people. Our table ordered sliced lean brisket, smoked turkey, and smoked sausage as meats. Our sides were green beans (best I’ve ever had), potato salad, dirty rice, and roasted potatoes. The green beans and roasted potatoes were great. The other sides were good. We ate inside at 6:00 pm. I’m not sure if it was the time or not, but the brisket was very dry. The flavor was okay, but it was just too dry. We ordered at the counter and there was no wait for our food. I’m hoping this is an isolated incident so I will give it another shot if I’m in the area.
This place has a firm sense of identity and great food. They gave me one single type of barbecue sauce - they know what they're about and don't need to overcompensate by offering 10 types. The ribs were excellent flavor and texture and were a good value.
Walk in- it smells like heaven. The ladies were quick and helpful with a smile. The Cowboy Pie yum! with jalapeño and sour cream, yes please! Cherry Cobbler very tasty!
I came here on my lunch break for the first time. You order your food and they make it as you're ordering and then you pay and sit down. The place was a little busy as it was lunch time but there was plenty of seating. I got the ribs, sliced brisket, beans and potato salad. The meat way great. My brisket was full of flavor and the ribs were falling off the bone the potato salad was okay but I was hoping it would've been a little better instead of bland. The beans reminded me a lot of the canned beans. But overall, the food was good and the tables were clean. They also sold some canned jellies. They had dessert/cobblers as well but honestly I ordered enough food for two as it was so I couldn't fit anymore.
